The New Year is quickly upon us, and I have already asked all of my current and future clients to begin logging their food into MyFitnessPal, or another similar app. Heck, I don’t care if it is even on paper. It is just important that everyone starts logging in.
Some of the excuses I have heard thus far are that “it is the holidays and I am eating badly” or “I am having too much to drink.” To which I say, “Good.” Just log it. I know that logging your food is a pain. I know that it seems like an IRS audit, and I know the temptation to lie on your own tracking app is great, but it is the single most important thing you need to get a handle on to get in better shape today and in 2023!
Nutrition, calorie intake, and macros are more important than cardio, weight training, sleep, or anything else.
So many people forego this vital step and end up always being unsatisfied with their results.
I have been working on powerlifting and bodybuilding for most of my life. It was not until I started to log my food, understand what I was putting in my body, and then make the proper changes that I really began to see the results I am getting today. Imagine how much better in shape I could have been in my 20s and 30s if I had taken this step.
Logging your food takes almost no energy, and in doing so you will be giving yourself a free nutritional education. Without my help or anyone else’s to look at it, you will immediately see some obvious changes that need to be made, and that doesn’t cost you a thing!

What I am saying here is that there might be things you are not ready to give up. We can work with it. My true belief is that once you start seeing those abs pop and the weight falling off the scale, you will be motivated to cut out anything that is preventing you from becoming your best self… but for now, we can work with you! I just need to know what you like, and what your eating habits are right now, especially on the worst days.
